We all know that eating healthily and getting regular exercise is important for our health and longevity. We know that reading a book, playing an instrument or spending quality time with friends and family is better than watching Netflix. We know that working smarter is better for productivity and that being an integrated part of a team is a good way to progress at work. So why don’t we do all these things all of the time?
If you’re like most of us you’ll probably find that you go through phases of high productivity and accelerated progress, followed by a spell of doing things that serve you much less. This can cause you to stall or even undo the progress you’ve made. Why would we do this?
The reason is there are a whole host of thinking patterns, beliefs and values at work that you may not know about. The fact you are not aware of them means you have no control over them. They control you.
Coaching is a way to get clarity on what exactly it is you want. Something that aligns with your values is best. It’s like they say, there’s no point in climbing the ladder if its against the wrong wall. Once this is clear, by exploring your current patterns of thinking and behavior, the subconscious thoughts beliefs and values can be identified, freeing you up to move ahead without the old limitations.
A coach can also provide accountability to help you stay the course and drastically increase your chances of reaching your desired outcomes.

Coaching helps your awareness around your current situation, thinking and behavior. It acknowledges the past in relation to how it got you to where you are now but the focus is on where to go next. Coaching unlocks your inherent talents, abilities and knowledge by using questioning and insight into behavioral psychology.
Mentoring is typically where a more senior executive or manager in an organization offers guidance and advice to a less experienced employee to help pass down knowledge and experience.

Coaching works best for those who feel they are responsible for their career progression, they want to work in partnership to bring about change, they want to learn about themselves and how they can better their situation, they know that they have huge potential and are ready to explore it, are ready for change and are committed to investing time and effort to reach their desired goals.

My approach is person centered. Every client is unique and have different personality types and learning styles. I work with individuals in a style that suits them best. I personalise the approach rather than to use out of the box methods as I feel these approaches don’t account for individuality. My style of coaching is structured but flexible enough to move with the needs of the client and to leave space for realisation and exploration.
-
My methods are based in cognitive behavioral psychology. This explores the affect that our current conscious and unconscious thinking patterns have on our behavior. By becoming aware of our thinking, actions, emotions and physiology, we gain insight into what psychological needs our behaviors are serving. With this awareness we can start to author a set of preferred outcomes.
By becoming aware of our unconscious needs we can choose to shed some of the old thinking that’s been weighing us down, using up our energy and holding us back. From here we can look with fresh eyes, creativity and curiosity at the new future we are creating.
To ground sessions and to ensure that the client outcomes are being served, I sure solution based coaching. This begins sessions with accurately identifying the desired outcomes of the sessions and finishing with a set of actions that can be taken which have been mentally freed up, allowing them to be acted upon.

Working with a coach that is right for you is very important. Every client has their own style and preferences and choosing a coach you are comfortable with is the first step. To see if we are a good fit, we will have a ‘‘chemistry’’ call so we can see if starting a coaching relationship will get you the results you want.
-
A coaching relationship can take anywhere from a month to 6 months, depending on what you hope to achieve. In all cases, there is an initial chemistry call to make sure we are a good fit to work together. If so, you will fill out a pre coaching questionnaire and soon after that, the coaching will begin.
Depending on what you want to achieve, sessions can be between an hour and two hours. The time between sessions is between a week and a month again depending on what type of outcomes you are looking for.
See the services page for more details.
